“The Goddess in me Sees and Appreciates the Goddess in You”
Professionally, I have many goals surrounding my practice as a birth worker. My first professional goal is to continue my education at the Midwives College of Utah as I pursue my Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSM) and prepare for the NARM exam. My next professional goal is to gain more experience serving clients birthing in out-of-Hospital settings and to expand my personal exposure to seeing birth happen this way. Thirdly, I would love to expand my knowledge in human lactation and start working towards IBCLC certification, in order to provide the best possible support to those providing human milk for their babies. I hope to accomplish these things by studying peer-reviewed research to shape my best practice.
What I want…
I ADORE talking to others about my personal goals because it inspires me to keep working toward them. My #1 and continuous lifetime goal is to never stop growing. I understand that being comfortable is nice, but when I push myself to learn new things, I truly feel enriched in my life.
My second personal goal is to act with kindness, which isn’t always easy. Sometimes doing the thing that is genuinely kind is painful or scary. Like when it’s time to take a pet to the veterinarian to cross the Rainbow Bridge. Or when you have to admit to a mistake you made in earnest. Kindness is not always simple, and I strive to move through this world with the idea in my pocket.
A third personal goal of mine is to incorporate indigenous practices into my life. I am very gently studying the language of my ancestors, learning a little bit along the way. It has been a struggle to connect to my heritage from the opposite side of the country, and without parents to teach me firsthand traditions and beliefs. Yet I continue to read and learn more about the history of my lineage as much as I can.
